Job description

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker for a 3-month contract position in the Northern Territory. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work in a hospital-based setting with an outstanding multi-disciplinary team providing acute inpatient care across a variety of wards in the Katherine region.

Position Overview:

Location: Katherine, NT
Contract Duration: 3 months
Role: Hospital-Based Social Worker
Pay Rate: $70 – $80 per hour (depending on experience) + super
Accommodation and Travel: Accommodation and travel provided at no cost, plus use of a vehicle
Additional Benefits: Extra $$$ for on-call, weekend, and night shifts, Blue Light Card, referral bonuses, salary packaging including living away from home allowance

About the Role: As a Senior Social Worker, you will provide acute inpatient care across a variety of wards, including the Emergency Department, acute wards, medical, surgical, palliative care, maternity, guardianship, and crisis response.

The role involves working with victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, conducting crisis interventions, and providing short-term support. Additionally, you will need to be comfortable working in a busy hospital environment, responding to urgent needs, and collaborating with other health professionals to provide comprehensive care.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

Experience in hospital-based social work, particularly within acute settings (Emergency Department)
Crisis intervention and short-term support skills
Strong knowledge and experience in domestic violence risk assessment, safety planning, and support services
Experience working with child protection concerns, including mandatory reporting and liaising with relevant agencies
Comfortable working with victims of sexual violence and domestic abuse
Willingness to work extended hours (including weekends, after-hours shifts, on-call)
