Orthopaedics Scrub Nurse
Position: Orthopaedics Scrub Nurse
Location: Adelaide CBD area
Department: Orthopaedics Surgery
Reports To: Operating Room Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Orthopaedics Scrub Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing sterile assistance during orthopaedic surgeries, ensuring patient safety, and supporting the surgical team in delivering high-quality care. You will be responsible for preparing the operating room, handling instruments, and assisting with patient care before, during, and after procedures.
Available as a 3-6 month contract or permanent role.
Full-time position with shift work required, including evenings, weekends
Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room for orthopaedic procedures, ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterile and ready for use.
- Scrub in and assist the surgical team during a variety of orthopaedic surgeries such a major joints and emergency orthopaedic cases, fracture repairs, and spinal procedures.
- Maintain a sterile environment and provide necessary instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.
- Monitor the patient’s vital signs and ensure proper positioning before, during, and after the operation.
- Handle and account for surgical instruments and materials to ensure nothing is left inside the patient.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and prepping in accordance with best practice guidelines.
- Provide post-operative care and assist in the recovery phase by monitoring patients and helping with documentation.
Qualifications:
- Current AHPRA or willingness to apply
- Previous experience in orthopaedic surgery, with knowledge of standard orthopaedic procedures and instrumentation.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Police check
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Previous experience in joints surgery
