Job Title: Court Liaison Clinician
Start Date: ASAP start for a 6-month period
Location: Northern Territory
Pay Rate: $90 p/hour + Super + Salary Sacrifice
Provide forensic liaison and consultation on mental health matters, bridging communication and collaboration between courts, prisons, justice departments, mental health services, police, government, and community agencies.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, treatment, and consultancy services for individuals in the criminal justice system, addressing mental health issues in line with legal and policy standards.
- Deliver verbal and written consultancy to courts, correctional services, and related agencies.
- Complete training as a Designated Mental Health Practitioner and fulfil associated responsibilities.
- Maintain accurate records, foster teamwork, and contribute to policy and program development.
Requirements
- Hold AHPRA registration and recognised mental health qualifications to practise as Mental Health Nurse.
- Have or be able to obtain a valid NT driver’s licence.
- Bring at least two years of experience in forensic or community mental health settings.
- Understand the role of forensic mental health professionals, including criminal justice processes, legislative frameworks, and key principles.
- Be skilled in managing clients who may pose risks, including clinical risk assessment and management.
- Provide clear and accurate written and verbal reports on clients’ mental state and treatment needs.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Build strong connections with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
