Youth Access Clinician

Job description

As a Youth and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse you will be dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate health care services to individuals and families in need, with a focus on mental health and well-being.   1. Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualised care plans in collaboration with clients, families, and other health care professionals.
  2. Therapeutic Interventions: Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions and psychosocial support to children and adolescents experiencing mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioural disorders.
  3. Crisis Intervention: Respond to crises and emergencies promptly, assess risk, and implement appropriate interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
  4. Education and Support: Educate clients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies to promote self-management and resilience.
  5. Collaboration and Advocacy: Collaborate with community agencies, schools, and other stakeholders to facilitate access to resources and support services for clients and families. Advocate for the needs and rights of children and adolescents with mental health concerns.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client assessments, interventions, and progress in electronic health records. Generate reports as required by regulatory agencies and funding bodies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing preferred/ Post Graduate certificate in Mental Health Nursing
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in mental health nursing, preferably working with children and adolescents.
  • Certification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nursing (CAMHN) is an asset.
  • Strong assessment, therapeutic, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
