Staff Specialist or VMO Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Job description

We are currently seeking a Staff Specialist or VMO in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to fill two vacant positions in the Bega Valley, following the resignation of their local Obstetrician and Gynaecologist after nearly a decade of service who left the service mid-June 2022.

The South East Regional Hospital, located near the beautiful south coast of New South Wales, is one of the two main modern hospitals in Southern NSWLHD. Their team of friendly and highly trained health professionals provide excellent services for residents and visitors in a variety of settings, including community health centres, in hospital, or their homes as required. Aboriginal health services are available throughout the service.

In 2021, the hospital delivered 280 babies and offers a Level 3-4 capability maternity service with on-site paediatrician support. They have a specialist paediatrics service and provide care for neonates, paediatric in-patients, and children in a 6-bed ward, as well as substantial general and development outpatient clinics.

They are keen to implement a 7-day on, 7-day off collaborative model of care, working with local GP obstetricians and midwives. Opportunities for continuing professional development at The Canberra Hospital are also available as part of any 7 on 7 off job plan.
