What you will be doing:
- You will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive, high-quality care to patients utilising the principles of fair access and equity, patient participation, health promotion and prevention.
- Demonstrate Competence to perform the role of Instrument/Circulating nurse as per ACORN standards and Organisational policy and guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues utilising well developed verbal, written and technological skills.
- Maintain and promote safe clinical practice and adhere to Aseptic Technique, Infection Control principles and practices
- Collaborate with surgical team to ensure that all instruments, accountable items, and other items used during surgery/procedures are retrieved, accounted for, and appropriately documented.
- Manage the instruments and associated sterile items, accountable items, assist the surgeons with access to instruments and supplies required to undertake the surgical procedure.
- Recognise intraoperative complications or changes in patient’s condition and responding appropriately.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
What you will need:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia or willingess to apply
- Previous clinical scrub/scout experience and a proactive and enthusiastic willingness to learn is preferable.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.
- Have an understanding of the Health Nursing Standards of Practice 2012 and how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in alignment to the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.
