Job description

We are currently seeking a Clinical Director for Older Persons Mental Health. The successful applicant will be based in one of the world’s most liveable cities and will have easy access to some of the best skiing and pristine beaches in Australia.

The Mental Health, Justice Health and Alcohol and Drug Services provides support to youth and adults in a range of settings, including inpatient and outpatient facilities, community health centres, justice health facilities and even people’s homes. MHJHADS strives for social inclusion and operates with a recovery-focused and/or harm minimisation approach.

The Older Person Mental Health Services offer specialist inpatient and community-based mental health assessment and treatment services for adults in the ACT who experience moderate to severe functional impairment due to serious mental illness/disorder with associated complex needs and risk.

The successful candidate will have specialist experience in General Psychiatry and a Certificate of Advanced Training in Psychiatry of Old Age, as well as high-level skills relevant to both inpatient and community services, including the provision of ECT services. The Clinical Director will also participate in mandatory administrative, governance and training requirements of medical officers within the Division. Emphasis on recovery focus and person-centred care is essential.

Benefits include a generous remuneration package ranging between $292,024 – $393,988, which is inclusive of salary, applicable allowances, and 11.5% super. In addition, there is an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $50,000 to $75,000 per year pro-rata, a management allowance of $25,336 during tenure as Clinical Director, up to $55,000 in reimbursement of relocation expenses for permanent and long-term appointments, and a Medical Education Expenses allowance reimbursement up to $19,782 per annum. There are also generous leave provisions, including up to 4 weeks training/education leave and up to 5 weeks annual leave per annum.
